What Are Tooth Extractions?
Even though Dr. Klein makes every effort to conserve and preserve your natural teeth, there are cases where a tooth or teeth might need to be extracted. A simple extraction removes a tooth that is visible over the gumline. This is generally used for a tooth that is decayed or damaged beyond repair. A surgical extraction removes a tooth that has not erupted above the gumline. Surgical extractions are most frequently performed to remove impacted teeth, like wisdom teeth, that don't have enough room to fit into your smile. Regardless of the reason for having an extraction at Rise and Shine Dentistry, our team takes a patient-first approach to ensure you are comfortable during your treatment at our Rock Hill, SC dental practice. Contact our team to learn more or to schedule a dental exam with Dr. Klein to boost your oral health.
How Are Tooth Extractions Performed?
Extractions are performed in our office with local anesthesia to numb the area near the tooth being worked on. Other sedation options are available if you require an extensive procedure or if you have severe dental fears or anxieties. As soon as you are ready, Dr. Klein will begin the procedure. For a simple extraction, Dr. Klein will loosen the tooth using a special elevator device before removal. A surgical extraction entails making incisions into your gums to reach the tooth. If needed, the tooth may be broken up into smaller pieces to be easily extracted. Once the tooth has been removed, Dr. Klein will stitch the incision in the gums. Dr. Klein can prescribe antibiotics to be taken before and after the procedure — typically in cases where patients have a current illness, if their immune system is compromised, if the process is extended, or if they have some other special medical conditions.
What Are the Benefits of Tooth Extractions?
Although we understand that many individuals may prefer to postpone or avoid tooth extractions, getting these procedures done at Rise and Shine Dentistry quickly following diagnosis can offer several oral wellness advantages. The primary advantages of tooth extractions are:
- Prep for implant options to restore the form and feel of the extracted tooth
- Fairly quick treatment that takes place in our office
- Can minimize the spread of infection
- Prevents decay and damage from spreading to nearby teeth
- Performed utilizing a topical anesthetic to numb the area and allow you to remain as comfortable as possible
Rise and Shine Dentistry Reviews
Rise and Shine Dentistry has been a life (and tooth) saver. Doctor Klein was very patient and kind while completing a root canal on one of my teeth. He was extremely helpful by helping me with this emergency on his day off. What an extremely kind Doctor. His outstanding service was exceptional. His staff is incredibly kind and helpful as well. Even during inclement weather from Hurricane Helene, one of the staff came in just to help check the condition of my teeth. I was in pain and they responded so quickly. I am extremely satisfied with this dentist. I wish I could give them bonus stars on this rating. Seriously, if you are ever in need of a dentist, I beg you to go to Rise and Shine Dentistry.
It’s like having a cheering squad. 🤗 This a great place to get your mouth and teeth taken cared of. Love having Winnie the little dog to keep a patient calm. Dr. Kline and staff are great!

Everyone at Rise and Shine is so nice! My dental hygienist, Brooke, and Dr. Klein were great to work with.
I wish I could give more stars!! Absolutely would recommend- From the time I walked in the door, I was greeted by two beautiful smiling women who made the check in a breeze- My dental hygienist was Brooke, she was outgoing, personable, explained everything to me and kept me pain free during my cleaning! Dr. Klein was very kind, knowledgeable and took his time to go over a treatment plan for me before getting Invisalign. I highly recommend this office!!
